Personal Statement

Making it to the semi-final in playoffs for high school hockey was an amazing experience and one of the best times so far in my high school career. Although everything leading up to the playoffs is what made me become the kind of goalie I am today.

As my first year being the starting goalie for a high school hockey, I had many challenges to deal with that being a small 8th grade goalie would have in store. Towards the middle of the season I suffered an injury that kept me out for a few weeks. It wasn’t until after I came back that I realized how much that made me the goalie I am today. Being out for three weeks was very hard as you would expect it to be, but it made me stronger as a goalie mentally and once I was able to return to the ice it made me want to work even harder and not take for granted the opportunities that I have. Being forced to sit out and watch from the sidelines, I not only realized how lucky I was to be able to play this great sport but I have also grown stronger mentally from the experience. Now when I encounter a set back, I think back to that time in hockey and it reminds me that everything happens for a reason and I will come out of stronger, and more determined than ever.
