As a student athlete I’ve learned that hard work is a key factor to success. Although hard work is an overused phrase, it is truly what defines my effort academically as well as in my hockey experiences. Starting at 10 years of age all the way up to my Junior year of high school, I have been selected for the hardest worker award on all my hockey teams. I have used my leadership skills as Captain on my Varsity team and applied them to my life outside of my sport. I have used my grit and determination to excel in National Honor Society, AP classes, and honor classes. I also take pride in helping teach and coach young players to love the sport of hockey as much as I do.
I developed a competitive spirit growing up as a quadruplet, always wanting to win. When I was a Mini Mite we had tryouts and the coaches placed a white dot on my helmet but my brothers were given a blue dot. As soon as I got home from tryouts I grabbed a blue marker and colored in my dot. In my heart I knew I was capable of playing with the Blue Mites, so I worked really hard in practice until my coaches noticed my effort and improvement, moving me to the Blue Mite team. This has been my approach throughout my hockey experience, always pushing myself to raise my bar higher. I am certain that my drive, effort, and leadership qualities make me a good recruit for a high level collegiate hockey program.
