My name is Alayna Dunagan. I’m class of 2027 at Talawanda High School. I became fascinated with hockey at 9 years old and was intrigued by the speed and determination of the players on the ice. I didn’t start playing hockey as early as I would like but that led to great opportunities to develop my discipline, work ethic, and determination. I’ve achieved many milestones I’ve set for myself such as making the boys AA team in 14U, getting the starting position for my program's high school team, made the All Star boys ice hockey team, Team World in roller hockey, and just being able to keep up with the boy's teams in general. I always try to give it my all in games, even when we are getting blown out, I do not give up because the tide of the game can turn at any second. I strive to be a good teammate and support my team. I want to study psychology to help athletes with their mental health and mental toughness in games, because I have struggled with that personally. I hope to make a difference in the sports field, to show athletes that it's ok to ask for help, build their confidence in themselves and in their game play.
