Hello fellow esteemed coaches and recruiters,
I am excited to announce that I am committing to accelerating my hockey abilities by playing a higher level of hockey. I will be taking that further step into accomplishing my dreams to better myself in the sport and continuing to do what I love most, which is being on the ice and learning!
I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I consider myself to be the one of the hardest, if not the hardest working athlete on and off the ice for games, practices and helping my teammates. I take tremendous pride in trying to bettering my mental approach to hockey by setting goals, looking for advice from coaches or re-watching filmed games, as well following up on my next steps with the sport.
I have been balancing being a student athlete for as long as I can remember. Hockey has made me into a coachable, hard-working and positive individual I am today. I have learned from humbling losses and the memorable wins over my hockey career. I have surrounded myself with high performance competitive players and coaches, as well as high performance strength and conditioning trainers throughout the past 8 years of playing women's hockey. Before the years of women's hockey, I had spent 6 years playing boys hockey. The sport itself has taught me that I should always give it my all, that hard work can pay off, and that I can keep my emotions intact while learning to be a humble player, with strong roots in sportsmanship, winning or losing!
I started skating when I was 3, and learned quickly the benefits of growing my skills and getting up and not quitting. My dad made an outdoors rink every winter where I spent hours skating, shooting and competing with friends, neighbors and my older brother for the puck. I quickly learned I could push myself and see the impact of my efforts. When I joined a boys team early on, I was scoring goals, as well as creating scoring opportunities for my teammates and learning about the game. I also developed a fast-moving mentality throughout playing 3 on 3 during the summers early on. I am now playing for the Barrie Sharks U18AA Program. I couldn’t be more excited to further my future in hockey with putting forward my best efforts at all times.
I’d like to thank you for taking the time & effort to read about my love and commitment to the sport I have played my whole life, and can not wait to see where hockey takes me in my future with your support to one day, play for a College or University team.
Best regards,
Avery Brigden #72
