2022 SpotlightPersonal Statement
My name is Maria Mazi. I love to play hockey. Hockey has given me so much to be thankful for in my life. Hockey has taught me to have confidence, honesty, integrity and how to be a team leader. For the 2023/24 season, I will be playing with the Mississauga Jr. Hurricanes (HC: Darcy Breakey). This is my 9th year playing rep hockey. Three words to best describe me: determined, caring, and smart.
I have consistently been recognized by coaches, trainers and teammates as being an elite player, having a very high hockey IQ, being an offensively minded player and positionally solid. I have developed exceptional skating, shooting and puck handling skills. During the summer of 2021, I was invited and attended the BTNL Elite Summer Camp where I trained both on and off-ice with AAA boys that were generally 2-4 years older. I will be attending the camp in July 2023.
My hockey instructors include Rob Hisey (Hisey Hockey), and Dan Ninkovich (Beyond the Next Level - BTNL). My strength coach is Dan Ninkovich (BTNL). In addition, I have been working on my skating and edge work with Michelle Moore.
I will be entering grade 10 at Appleby College, in Oakville Ontario.
