Beth McArthur '21 Recruiting Profile

I am the prototypical student athlete.  I have played and excelled at many sports but, hockey has been my favourite from a young age.  When I was younger I liked to participate in many sports and activities at the highest level available to me but, now I train and focus on hockey.  I love the balance sport provides to my academic life and I am self driven to excel in both.  I believe that the more we do, the more we can do.  Sport, like my academic pursuit, constantly pushes me to strive for something more.

Beth is a talented defenseman with excellent vision on the ice. She is a smooth skater, with explosive speed. Beth is solid positionally in our end, while offering an offensive flare to her game be it rushing the puck or creating plays in the offensive zone. Beth Is a passionate player who is dedicated to strength and conditioning and continually making improvements to her game. She is coachable, a great teammate and one of our captains this year.

In addition to this, Beth has an impressive average above 90% while balancing her responsibilities as a Head of House in TCS boarding. I coach Beth and teach at TCS and I can say that for a student who came to us in grade 11 it is very rare to hold so many leadership roles as a second year student. Beth has impressed her hockey coaches, her teachers and her peers as she elegantly balances the rigorous demands of academics and athletics at TCS.

Having played Varisty USport (CIS) Women's Hockey myself (U of T 2011-2016) I can confidently say that Beth is prepared for university level hockey. I know she will rise to the challenge of the game pace and be an immediate asset to the team while continuing to improve. She has the size, the speed, the game sense, the tenacity and compete level, and perhaps most importantly the passion for the game.
