My name is Naomi Kobo, and I have been playing ice hockey since the young age of 4. I am 5'6", 137 lbs, play right defense, and live in Toronto, Ontario.
I was born and raised in Kobe, Japan, where I started and developed my ice hockey career. However, with the sport not being the most popular in Kobe, and with the city having little to no facilities to play, I decided to move to Canada after my sophomore year, and live with my grandfather.
In school, I am just as committed to my studies and extracurriculars as I am to sports. I went to a university prep school in Japan, where 99.7% of the students attend college, where I maintained an 87% average, and achieved Honor roll every semester since eighth grade. I also participated in honors English, honors History, and Advanced Japanese until moving to Canada in the summer of 2019. Additionally, I also participated in the National Honors Society, Model United Nations, school Student Council, and school Athletic Council, where I developed my social, leadership, and time management skills, along with many others. I currently attend Georges Vanier Secondary School, where I maintain a 85% average.
As an athlete, my best qualities include my competitive nature, endurance, and determination. Growing up playing multiple sports at a time, my life was primarily focused on my athletics and academics. I was always known for my hustle and determination on the ice, as well as my constant drive to beat any opponent I was faced with. Even as a defenseman, I am always looking for opportunities to score goals. I take pride in my work ethic and determination to the sport, and am always looking for ways to improve my game.
I am looking to find a school in the fall of 2021, which will challenge me as a hockey player, as well as a scholar. I am currently looking into the majors of sociology, international relations, and political study, but am also open to considering a major in the maths and sciences. My goal is to find a school that will consistently help me improve myself, as well as help me find a career path that I will learn to enjoy and love.
