My name is Charlise Wharram, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
I started playing hockey when I was five years old and immediately fell in love with the game. My goal is to continue playing hockey at the highest level possible as a college/university student working towards my undergraduate degree.
Over the years I have excelled at many school sports including Basketball, Volleyball, Cross County, Track and Field and Floor Hockey achieving athlete of the year multiple times. Outside of school I have played soccer, and in more recent years, tier one/tier two Fastball for the Springfield Brewers. In the month of August, I completed my Grade 7 piano practical exam and am currently working on the theory portion of it. I feel I am a well-rounded person, but my passion resides in Hockey. Hockey is the best sport there is to play. It is a fast paced, physical game, played at a very high intensity level. These are all things that make it so enjoyable to play.
For the last ten years I have been loyally playing out of my hometown Woodstock as a defenseman with many of the same teammates/friends. Over the years we have had successes and failures but all as a team. I have learned many life lessons from these experiences. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and other reasons, several girls from team decided not to play hockey this season. These unforeseen circumstances have given me the opportunity to venture out to a new organization and to play at the U18 – AA level for the Bluewater Hawks.
Over the years my coaches have described me to have a no quit, hardworking attitude, knowing I will always do what is best for the team. Whether or not I had a letter on my jersey, my coaches and team mates always knew they could count on me to be the one who sparked energy to motivate our team.
I am willing to do extra training on and off the ice for both my athletics and my academics. The hard work in hockey has taught me that if I want anything in life, I must work hard for it and never give up.
During the last sixteen years of my life, hockey has given me the opportunity to make some great friends, and to learn from some outstanding coaches. I am looking forward to continuing to form new relationships with both new teammates and coaches that cross my path in the future.
