I am a senior at Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Erie, PA there are limited opportunities to play ice hockey. Last season I practiced weekly with the Mercyhurst University Women's Club Team, Erie Lions 16U boys team, and the Erie Tigers 18U boys team. I am currently on the Armstrong Arrows 19U tier II team and I plan to continue to do the same for the upcoming 2018-19 season. For my main team, the Armstrong Arrows, practice is only held once a week because all of the team members live 2+ hours away from our practice rink which is why I aim to skate on the ice as many times as possible. It's very difficult with my schedule, however I make it a priority to skate on the ice at least four times a week. In addition to hockey, I have played all four years on my high school varsity soccer team, and track team. This past year our soccer team won the PIAA 2017 state championship game at Hershey Park Stadium. Along with playing multiple sports, I also am involved in a variety of school clubs and activities such as; Student Governement, Peer Leader, Women in Motion, Ophelia club, Serteens, and other service oriented clubs. Academically junior year my overall GPA was a 4.0 and cumalative is a 3.57 GPA. I continue to challenge myself academically taking multiple honors and IB (international baccalaureate) classes.
I wish to play ice hockey at the highest level possible for as long as I physically can. I have been playing so long it has become a part of who I am and I cannot imagine not playing. Hockey is my passion and I don't know where I would be with out it. It has helped to keep me organized, focused, and guided me on what my priorities are. It is through this sport that I have learned leadership, confidence, determination and dedication to all things important in my life. It is difficult to express my dedication to this sport without sounding over the top. I will always come prepared and ready to give my all to every practice and game, I do not do anything half way. Some things are not easily acquired and when this happens to me, it motivates me to try even harder until I complete the task on hand correctly and to the best of my ablility. I do not quit - I only keep trying.
