My name is Maggie Danchak and I am a part of the class of 2023 at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown, PA.
As of Fall of 2022, I have been playing hockey for 10 years. Although I was unsure of the sport at first, due to dull skates and tight helmets, I fell in love with it and playing hockey has had a profound impact on my life. Hockey taught me many lessons both on and off the ice. With each year, I grow to be a better person, teammate and player. Through the years, I benefited from every camp and clinic that I attended and took advantage of every opportunity to be on the ice. I attended numerous player, stick handling, power skating camps over the years, and work hard to incorporate into my play the advice and skills the coaches share with their students.
I am a team player and feel this is another one of my strong suits. Believe me, I love to score goals and win as much as the next person, but I know hockey isn't an "individual" sport. For me, being a team player makes sense because my other favorite part of hockey is the team itself and seeing my team working together. I love being a play maker who tries her best to create opportunities for my teammate by making the right pass, running a block, setting up a give and go, or covering a line-mate who needs support. I respect my teammates and love when we all bond and enjoy each other's presence. I know a team is nothing without spirit and strive to lift my teammates up on the ice and in the locker room.
