Schay Camphaug '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Schay, and I am currently a AAA goalie with the Notre Dame Hounds at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame. I began playing hockey second year Atom, and have been a goalie since my second year Peewee. I aspire to play with a NCAA team while studying agriculture.

At Notre Dame, they push me to become a better athlete and overall person. I learned to always push myself to put in the work to be the best I can both an athlete and teammate. I enjoy healthy competition and always work to ensure that I am playing the best I can in order to win with my team. This drives me to constantly be progressing as a player, and am always reviewing in order to find where I can better myself. My eagerness to improve and competitiveness carries into my academics, where I always strive to achieve and maintain my  90% average in all my classes. I set high standards for myself, and just as with my hockey, I am constantly working to fix and correct my errors. Both on and off the ice I work hard to make corrections and strive for greatness!

Team dynamics impact how well someone can play, and so I always work to be inclusive and supportive with my teammates. I pride myself on the positive relationships I can build by interacting and learning about my teammates; I always try to support my teammates in small and large ways, whether it’s a little tap on the shoulder with a “good job”, or having to help bring some energy to the team with a little dancing, I am always there to help create a positive environment.
