Personal Statement

From a young age, I learned that the best way to grow is by challenging myself and stepping out of my comfort zone. This has helped me a lot in hockey and in life, teaching me that working together as a team is as important as individual skills. I'm always looking for ways to get better and help my team.

I love reading about leaders from sports and other areas of life. These stories inspire me and show that the lessons we learn in sports, like not giving up, being strong in body and mind, and the importance of being a good team player, are extremely relevant and important in everyday life too.

This mindset helped me to embrace and overcome many challenges, such as switching from my usual position as a center to play defense to help the team in my first year as a 14U Tier II player. Even though it was new and challenging, I took on the role. I worked hard to learn everything, became a really strong defensive player while also contributing to the offense by scoring 7 goals and adding 10 points. I was also invited to the Pacific District High Performance Camp. This experience showed me how to be resilient and adapt to new situations.

Hockey means a lot to me because it teaches me about life and helps me inspire others. I volunteer at events to teach kids how to play and skate, trying to make it easier for everyone to join in and enjoy hockey. I also work hard to be a positive role model for my younger sister and brother, who are also hockey players.

My dream is to play hockey at a Division I college where I can get better both as an athlete and a student. I am interested in studying engineering and medical studies, and I want to use what I learn to make hockey more affordable and accessible to everyone and drive a positive change in this world.

I'm excited to bring my love for hockey, my commitment to helping others, and my determination to your team. I'm ready to learn, grow, and contribute to our success together.
