My first year of lacrosse they called me Peanut.
This sport has been a passion of mine ever since I was 7 years old, in second grade, playing on a U13 team. My brother who now plays at UCSB was my inspiration to joining this sport at such a young age. Since there were no teams of my age group near me, I had no other choice than to play with people who were 2 feet taller than me. These players took me under their wing and taught me the game of lacrosse that I learned to love with their help.
When COVID hit, we did not know if I was going to be able to have a High School season. This led me to trying out for my first club team SO Cal Express, in summer of 2021. There, I was able to make a team and fell in love with it. I liked club so much that I tried out for the club again in the winter and made it. These two seasons helped me to improve my skills to become an overall better lacrosse player.
Now we jump to today. I have now inspired my little sister who is currently a second grader to start playing. I am also playing at Wilson High School and am the current defensive captain. As the defensive captain, I have helped to teach my teammates how to play defense and correct any mistakes they may be making. I have been a starter on this team for all 3 years and I helped to lead the team to the league's first ever Moore League championship in 2022.
I hope to continue playing lacrosse in college so that I can improve my skills and connect with other athletes who have the passion for this sport such as I do. I also hope to major in computer science throughout my time in college.
