I’ve been lucky enough to make the varsity team for both cross country and lacrosse my freshman year. When I tried out for the varsity lacrosse team at my high school I didn’t think I was going to make it. In the previous year the program won league champs, placed second in sectionals, ended with a record of 20-1, and were ranked 4th in the state. The only experience I had was a year of playing goalie in 7th grade and a year of playing attack in 8th grade. I surprisingly made the team as a defender, which is not a position I had played before, but I learned quickly and was good enough to be a starter halfway through my freshman year season. That year our team won league champs and placed second in NCS. Ever since then my playing has only improved, as I’ve had the opportunity to compete nationwide with my club team.
I’m now a junior and I play midfield for both my high school team and my year round team, and have stayed true to my character as a coachable player. Any time a coach has ever asked me where I would like to be on the field, my answer is always, “wherever you want me coach.” I am a three sport athlete, and I’m looking for a college that I can compete at successfully, and can fit in academically. I’ve grown to be more and more social and more compelled to challenge myself as I continue to grow.
