In fourth grade, I started to pick up the sport lacrosse. I was playing soccer all my life until this time, and looking back at it now I am so happy that I switched. I started to love lacrosse I believe as a fourth grader because all my friends were on the team. However, now, I love this sport because it challenges me to use different concepts from all the sports I have played. Lacrosse ended up being every sport I played mixed into one activity. As a student-athlete, I have learned that sports cannot always come first. I need to balance when I can get my extra reps and school work. My academic goals in high school are to achieve high honors for the rest of my high school year and get inducted into the National Honors Society.
I have always loved team sports. I have learned that team chemistry is a significant factor in a team. This past year in basketball I changed the team chemistry. I watched our bench at games freshman year where there was no team spirit. Coming in sophomore year, I knew something needed to happen. After our first game, I led by example by not sitting on the bench sad, but by being the loudest and best celebrator on the bench. After this game, our team chemistry was only positive. After showing that being on the bench is as important as a starter, I helped lead the team farther in states than last year. I am looking for a college that team atmosphere is very positive and that everyone on the team can be a leader and help one another. I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on a college team!
