Hi Coaches! My name is Anna Smithy and I am a rising junior at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I have been playing LAX since 6th grade. I was introduced to the sport by my neighbor who was an All American LAX player for Wesleyan College. He taught me the basics and I quickly fell in love with the sport. I was a defensive starter for my high school team in the spring of 2021, however, I currently start at Attack for my travel team. Attack and Middie are my most natural positions and where I have spent the majority of my LAX career thus far.
My game is built on speed. I am usually not one of the larger players on the field so my advantage is my ability to get past defenders and to get up the field, opening up lanes for my teammates and allowing me to attack the goal. I try to utilize my speed and quickness to the advantage of my team and teammates (nothing makes me happier than finding an open teammate cutting for a goal), and I love to provide constant pressure on opposing defenses and goalies. Combining speed with controlled aggression has been a good formula for me so far.
I look forward to the opportunity to play in front of you. Thank you.
