Victorianna Murray '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coaches!  My name is Victorianna Murray and I am a junior at Pompano Beach High School in Pompano Beach, Florida.  I have been playing lacrosse since just before my freshman year. I was introduced to the sport by my dad who played in middle and high school as a goalie. He taught me some basics of it all and I fell in love with the sport and came to realize this is what I wanted to do. I started in the weight room and learning to read plays before ending up playing goalie 2 weeks before my first ever lacrosse game since we didn’t have one.  I was on our varsity team in spring of 2020 and ending up loving the last minute position I was put in. I currently start goalie for my travel team and varsity team. I know who to play other positions and could if I needed to, but I have only ever focused on being a goalie. Being a great lacrosse goalie is how I want to be remembered and I want people to be able to look up to me. 

The game for me is a huge mental game. I am usually one of the smallest players on the field so I use it to my advantage of looking non-intimidating and being closer to the ground to save a good amount of ground balls. I have great communication skills and I use it to communicate with my whole team, especially defense to make quick and efficient plays. I also love to run out of cage and assist on goals if the opportunity is given. I love working with my team and helping them see things from a perspective they can’t and giving them advice. Lacrosse is my passion, not what I want to do, but need to do for myself.
