Lacrosse, like everything in my life, has been a family affair. My parents have made a living from their love of sports and athletics. As a family, my parents have always brought teamwork, hard work and grit, selflessness, and love to everything. For the next 18 months, we, as a family, relied on these qualities to work together after James, my youngest brother, was born with a severe congenital heart defect. For the next 18 months, James survived through many surgeries and constant setbacks. We, as a family, as a team, worked together, worked hard, we were selfless and loved each other through this time. After James went to heaven, my parents encouraged me to play lacrosse. Lacrosse became a place I could use those family qualities. Sports again became a family activity and have continued as my sister, and I spend so much time playing lacrosse together. I want to continue my lacrosse journey in college and bring my parent’s lessons to my team on and off the field.
