Sports have always been a big part of my life. Because I live in close proximity to Notre Dame University, I have been able to watch a high level of competitive athletics. My family regularly attends Notre Dame football, soccer, hockey, basketball and women's lacrosse games. I try to emulate the tenacity and skill of those athletes when I play.
When I was four years old, I asked my parents if I could play soccer. After turning 5, I started playing soccer and have been playing ever since. At the club level for over a decade, I play with Michiana Echo Soccer Club in the Indiana Soccer League Premiere level where I have traveled throughout the Midwest participating in league games, President's Cups and Midwest tournaments. My teams have achieved championship status over the years. I have participated for years in Coerver, a globally recognized technical training program. At the high school level, I play soccer with Penn High School which is the number one ranked high school girls soccer program in the nation! We have been the 2 time state champions! Our high school head coach has stated that I have a great attitude and showed great mental toughness and character. He has commented that I have a "nose for the goal".
When I was eleven during a family vacation, my cousin, Dana Dipasquale-McKendree University-All-American, introduced me to lacrosse. I fell in love with this sport. I enjoy the speed of the game and implementing skills I learned from soccer into lacrosse. I have played club-travel lacrosse with Penn Youth Girls Lacrosse since I started playing. I also play lacrosse for my high school. My first 2 years of lacrosse at high school have been amazing! Our coach said I have excellent foot work and field vision. Our coach expressed that I am aggressive, coachable and very impactful on the field. At the end of my freshman season, I was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year. This punctuates my team first mentality.
During high school I have played two sports while also continuing my club-travel career. I grind to be better. Because my high school soccer team is so talented and filled with many elite athletes and ranked nationally so high, I have fought harder. I found that overcoming roadblocks is a mental attitude and I have been able to play longer, harder and faster than I ever thought possible. I have physically pushed myself to limits I never thought I could attain before. Achieving my goals have been personal but for the success of my team.
I have been required to be highly organized. Balancing 2 sports year round including practices, workouts and games has been parred with academics. At the end of my first year of high school, I achieved a 3.86 GPA. I have been able to maintain my GPA throughout my sophomore year. I learned that my favorite class became biomedical science, a 4.5 class. I have continued this medical, science track with Human Body Systems & Medical Interventions. I achieved the High Honor Roll both freshman and sophomore years and plan to keep this trajectory and graduate high school with an Honors diploma. My goals for college are to acquire a degree from a respected institution which will enable me to pursue a career in medicine and science. I want to be part of a group who commits to playing to their best potential athletically but also supports one another academically.
I pride myself on being a good teammate. I support others with encouragement. I always try to be humble and remember that I love to play. I would like to continue growing my academic career along with my athletic career.
