Personal Statement
I attended boarding school from the age of eight, so developing independence at an early age. Discipline and hard work were instilled. The ability to integrate with a group was ingrained. Sport was everyday and still is today. I was introduced to pop lacrosse aged 8 and excelled, being promoted to the under 13 team the year later. Hence, I am used to playing in a team where I am the youngest and was the youngest at 14 to have played as a starter for my current team Stowe School 1sts who are ranked top 6 in the UK with my midfield partners both being England U19 starters. From here, I have recently been selected for the Wales U'19 World Cup Squad and look forward to the World Cup next year.
This year (2018), to develop my experience I am playing for Old Walcountian Blues alongside a number of senior internationals and also travelled to play again in the USA where I was a member of the Ithaca Team that won the Capitol Cup in Va beating New Zealand u19s and then England u19s in the final. I am also a member of the GB Junior Winter Sports High Performance Talent Transfer Squad and am enthusiastic to see what might be achieved in skeleton and bobsleigh. Other sports include having represented the County at swimming and athletics not overlooking the England U16 regional field hockey squad.
Academically, I passed the competitive entrance exam for Stowe School which I now attend, having declined the sports scholarship I was awarded for Shrewsbury School. I gained A grades for all GCSE exams this summer and am now taking 4 A levels with early prediction of straight As. Maintaining the balance between academic pursuit alongside sports and in a socially busy boarding house is a challenge I have embraced, furthermore it will enable me to seamlessly enter into a college with an environment of athletic and academic excellence.
