My name is Jordan Trabue and I am a goalie in the class of 2019. I have been aspiring to play in college ever since I picked up a stick. I started playing lacrosse in seventh grade when I was thirteen years old at Westport middle school. My coach was my English teacher so she Announces “who wants to try out for lacrosse after school ”.I tried out after school. When I tried out they looked at me and thought I was the perfect person for being a goalie. My coach side I’m wide, athletic, and competitive. I have always been an easy kid who goes with the flow so I simply said “yes”. .In my two years playing goalie I just grew to love the sport.Once I was put in the goal I really started to excel. I played on the Junior Varsity team as a middle schooler and was a starter for the Junior Varsity.I had finally found what I had loved. My freshman year I tried for the eastern high school lacrosse team. They see I was a good goalie so they put me on freshman and junior varsity.when they have seen me ball out on one of the varsity games.I was pulled up to the varsity team too .(p.s I don’t think I was supposed to play on all three teams )was playing behind a senior goalie which really pushed me to work my hardest, being around others of equal or greater ability pushes me to be my best. I have been recognized in multiple ways: Freshman girl lacrosse most valuable defensive player, girls lacrosse 2016 district 3 all-tournament teams, Kyglca lacrosse 2017 goalie of the year, Kentucky scholastic lacrosse league girls all-state team.A 2017 Kentucky All-Star, and a 2017 State Runner-up.
I consider myself different from others because I am very hardworking. I devote at least 60 minutes a day to bettering myself for lax whether it is running, practicing in the goal, watching a film, or even doing my jump rope. I think that my constant grind to get better sets me above the masses. My strengths in the goal are free positions, bounce shots, footwork, eye coordination, intercepting and especially running the defense. On and off the field I am always trying to lead others. I have defiantly never met a stranger so I think that helps me in the sense that I will jump into the goal and start talking. Finally, my biggest asset is my ability to stop shots and clear the ball with both my left and right hand. Ever since I have picked up the stick I have been ambidextrous.
During the school year, most of my time goes into my studies when I am not playing lax. I go to Eastern high school a public school in Louisville, Kentucky. At Eastern high school I choose to work hard as I can to show people you can do anything if you put your mind to it.During my freshman year I didn’t know how important grades were until my second semester freshman year, and during my sophomore year I started increasing my GPA and I’m willing to continue that increase.
Thank you to everyone who has read my 'story' and hopefully my dreams of playing lacrosse in college come true and can be added to another chapter in my story.
Sincerely,
Jordan Trabue
