I started playing lacrosse only 3 years ago; I didn’t even know what the sport was before then. I joined a team to have fun with my friends and in the process I fell in love with the sport. Every practice, every game brings me joy. There is something about this sport that brings out a side of me I didn’t know I had. I feel confident and happy when I play. A big piece of playing sports for me is the support I have found within them. I play varsity soccer and lacrosse, and the people I have found while playing these sports are people I keep close to my heart. When I play, it’s for something bigger than myself, because it's for the people I care about; my teammates and my program. I love being a part of a team because I love working with a group to achieve a collective goal. I also love working with people in the classroom. Group projects are where I shine, because I find that combining everyone’s strengths creates not only a better outcome but also makes the task more enjoyable. Lacrosse is like a big group project, we work together using our individual strengths to make an even stronger team, until the project is done when we know we have all worked our hardest.
I put out my best effort not only at team practice, but also on my own. I have spent countless hours alone working on my technique and skills, trying to be the best that I can be. I do this not only for my own benefit, but also as a dedication to my teammates. I have found myself to be a leader on my lacrosse team. Since freshman year I have found myself volunteering for every demonstration, going first in every drill, and teaching people to the best of my ability. Lacrosse is a fairly new sport to Fryeburg Academy, so every year we attract many new freshmen who have never touched a stick in their lives. I love acting as a mentor to them and introducing them to the sport I love. I am so excited to get to play at the collegiate level and further my development on the field and in the classroom.
Another thing to note about me is that I am also a serious soccer player, and I also have an NCSA profile for that as well. If I were given the option to play both sports at the collegiate level I would, but that is not my only consideration. https://tinyurl.com/NCSAsoccerprofile
