My name is Emily Ulmer and I'm a senior at Bedford High School located in Bedford, New Hampshire and lacrosse is my passion! I aspire to play college lacrosse because I have a passion for athletics, a love for the sport and want to be a contributing member of a team. I have been playing for three years for my high school and NH Tomahawks Club Team. In addition to this sport, I also play field hockey and am a retired gymnast. When I made the switch, my parents hired a personal lacrosse trainer (Coach KK) and she has been able to help me bring my skill sets up quickly. I began competing in third grade and worked hard daily in a gym most of my youth to develop the skills on high bars, beam, floor and vault. At an early age I learned hand eye coordination, and although I was good at vaulting, my favorite events were floor and beam which is where I developed my strength, courage, and explosive speed. I am mentally driven and committed to improving my skills freshman through senior year at the collegiate level. As an athlete, I will use my physical, mental and emotional strengths to improve my stick skills and field IQ. I have mental toughness, a dedicated work ethic, and the ability to handle pressure to improve team winnings. My weakness can be a perfectionistic mindset but is also drives me to hit my target. I like being an active student-athlete, and being a team leader so we can over come adversity to succeed on and off the field throughout my collegiate career. I know when to step up and lead and when to follow. I was born in Japan and have moved a lot over the years. I was born at Misawa Air Base, Japan and have lived in many states. Las Vegas is where I started my gymnastics career when I was three. Then we moved to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia for one year, then to Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama for ten months. Hill Air Force Base in Utah was our next stop for three years, then Eglin Air Force Base in Florida for four years and we finally settled in New England. I now live in Bedford, NH for more than five years and this is where I discovered my love for lacrosse. Although my parents are both veterans, we love living in the north east near family and consider this home. I love the cold weather, snow, the four seasons, and we have family in upstate NY. My grandfather, retired Lt Col Daniel Ulmer played lacrosse for the Air Force Academy and was named the All American in 1971 and was all conference 1969, 1970 and 1971 for men's lacrosse. He taught me a lot about lacrosse and bought my my first stick. I learned to adapt to change at a very early age and thrive on adversity. Most of my best friends are my teammates. Since I am a little late to the sport, my goal is that I will find a coach who is willing to help develop me not only as an athlete, but also as a person. Emily Ulmer
