As someone playing at a high-competition school, I have learned a tremendous amount about humility, resilience, and how to work with a team under pressure. As a program, my coaches drilled into me and the rest of my teammates that no matter the score, and no matter the team, you treat them with the upmost respect, shake hands, and wait to celebrate our win in the locker room. And when we did lose, I held my head high, jogged off the field, and reflected on how I was going to improve the next day. Losing was simply to help our team improve, to motivate me into working on my weaknesses. I learned that on and off the field, supporting your teammates and keeping them motivated is what makes a strong team. No matter the score or how the other team held themselves, we played like the game was tied, and through the seven years I've been playing, I've learned to continue to push myself. I have learned pick myself up after every mistake and play twice as hard to recover.
Academically, I have always pushed myself in the places I am not strong. I love English and history, and throughout high school I have made it my goal to push myself to improve in math and science, subjects I have always struggled with. And coming out of sophomore year, I look back at my progress and I am proud of how far I've come. I am extremely hard working in every subject, and I strive for excellence in every assignment, and every class I participate in. I am not afraid to ask questions or participate in discussion.
