Payson Hedges '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Payson Hedges. I first discovered my love of lacrosse in 3rd grade. Ever since my  first game, I was hooked! I really love the competitiveness of the sport. I was born in Darien Connecticut, which is where I first started playing. In 8th grade, I moved to Northport, New York and began to play at a more competitive level on a travel team. I play for the Long Island Yellow Jackets. I made the Varsity lacrosse team my freshman year. In the off season, I played basketball on the JV team as a freshman but was called up to Varsity for the playoffs. Being a dual athlete helps me stay in shape and taught me time management skills. These are both important to be successful while playing sports in college. I maintain a 3.6 GPA and have earned honor roll every quarter while in high school. Through lacrosse, I have learned how to make friendships, how to be part a part of a team, how to work hard, how to be respectful and how to be humble. These attributes have helped me to achieve my goals  both academically and athletically. My goal is to continue this worth ethic as I play at the collegiate level.
