PEARCE BATCHILDER...Personal Statement
My name is Pearce Batchilder and I go to Halifax West High School in N.S Canada. While my school doesn't have a competitive lacrosse team I still play for multiply teams outside school, whether it be box lacrosse or field lacrosse. I have been playing box lacrosse for a 11 years and field for 5 years, I've also gone to the Lacrosse Canada Minor Box Lacrosse Nationals twice!
Due to playing on high level teams throughout my career, I am able to compete in high stress situations, on or off the floor. The ability to stay calm in stressful situations translates to my academic career as well, as I've always been able to achieve high marks. I've decided to test my smarts by enrolling in the Pre-IB program at my school, which prepares students for the full IB program in their 11th and 12th year.
During the pandemic, my sport has slowed down, causing there to be a less opportunity for me to grow my skill. To combat this I do drill and exercises by myself, often connecting with my coaches to see what I can improve on during this time. I also meet up with whatever teammates I can to see keep a connection with them and to help my skill and theirs grow.
When Covid starts to die down I hope to be able to better myself tenfold, whether it be going to camps, meeting up with friends, watching videos or just working on myself by myself.
