Makayla Dowdy '20 Recruiting Profile

  I am a 3.7GPA student and a 5'6 122lb starting Attack/Midfielder for my Varsity High School Team. I aspire to play Lacrosse at the College level, where I plan on majoring in Marketing and minor in Hospitality Management. I have been playing since I was 7 years old and have since dropped all other sports to focus on Lacrosse. I play Lacrosse year round for my High School and Travel Teams. I have led my Varsity High School team in goals, ground balls, shots on goal, draw controls, and several defensive picks. I am very coachable and have been working year round to play at the college level. The thing that sets me apart from other Women Lacrosse players is my power shots. Most players fight the defense to get inside, close to the goal and shoot, which I am also capable of, but I have excelled at shooting the power shot farther out from the goal. I have a nice power shot, I have been clocked at  62mph with just taking a couple steps. I can also shoot the finesse shots closer to the goal and I am good at placing them.  I have great foot work, use my dodges well, and can use both hands well. Something very important to me is I am well liked by my Coaches, Teachers, and Friends. I still keep in touch with teachers from Elementary and Middle School. Finally I love the game of Lacrosse, I have loved it since the moment I put a lacrosse stick in my hand. I would like to play as long as possible and I am going to work very hard to be able to continue to play in college.
