Personal Statement

I see myself, at the core, as a learning.  Whether is be athletics or academics, I love learning more and working at things to develop as an athlete, a student, and as a person.  I am multi-sport athlete with rowing, field hockey, soccer, basketball,  and triathlons as a part of who I am.  I love being a part of teams and having the process of working and developing together. I am results oriented,  but rather than just wins it's results based on the goals that we have created and developed together.  Covid is a great example of this. I know every workout, whether it was on my own, or with partners on Zoom, would help get me to where I am today.  No race, just hard work, listening and learning from coaches, keeping a focus on school and family throughout these unprecedented times are very important.  I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.

I have found a passion with rowing.  What I love about rowing is that it pushes me mentally and physically to my limit.  It is challenging and rewarding at the same time.  I love to learn and with rowing, I am constantly learning while practicing my skills and techniques.   Rowing is a great way to pair academics with athletics.   I row for the Victoria City Rowing Club and I am a part of the Canadian NextGen program which is a program which assists athletes who are trending five to eight years from an Olympic podium performance and to provide monitored, progressive programming for athletes on the High Performance Athlete Development Pathway.  I am also in the Canadian Sport School for half days where the trainers and teachers create strength and conditioning regimes to enhance our sport related activities.

I love rowing.  I love the culture, community and atmosphere.  I thrive on hard work and am dedicated to the process.  As I continue to build relationships with both teammates and coaches, I look forward to developing as an athlete and person.
