My name is Annika Inamdar, and I'm a student-athlete living in La Jolla, CA. At age 3, my parents introduced me to swimming, which led me to swim competitively for the next decade. At age 7, I joined a competitive swim team in Chicago, which introduced me to real competition. In 2013, after moving to San Diego, I joined a nationally ranked swim team, North Coast Aquatics, where I swam competitively for 6 years. I competed in a number of regional meets, specializing in breaststroke. I was ranked top 10 in San Diego Imperial Swimming , which was the Southern California chapter of USA Swimming. With relatives who row, I was persuaded to attend a 3-week learn to row camp at San Diego Rowing Club in June of 2019. Although that had been my first experience rowing, it had given me a feeling of accomplishment and camaraderie that swimming couldn't provide. The coaches recognized my potential with the sport, and asked me if I would join the high school novice team as an 8th grader. I made the the tough decision of becoming a full time competitive rower. Already being seated in all of the priority lineups, I had soon realized my potential with rowing was much higher than swimming. The strength and stamina earned from swimming for such a long time translated into rowing, benefiting me and giving me an advantage over many. I use this to my advantage and work every day to my 110% capacity with a good attitude. I've been loving rowing on a club team and striving to compete on a higher level, with the intent to row in college as well. Through motivating myself and my teammates every day, rowing has impacted my morale, determination, and mental/physical strength significantly.
