Hi coaches, my name is Natalie Gilbert and currently I am a junior at Seabreeze High School. After many years of doing competitive gymnastics, once I started high school I transitioned into the sport of rowing. Where now I have competed with Halifax Rowing Association for 3 years. My background in gymnastics has led me to be as competitive and hard-working in the sport of rowing. I would say I am a natural leader for my team as well as outside of rowing. Participating in many clubs and activities within my school and job. Working throughout my high school years, competing in rowing, and being a student full-time I have learned how to manage my time collectively through these activities.
Coming from many backgrounds in different sports I have found myself to be drawn to rowing, where I consistently strive to improve my times and motivate myself and fellow teammates to do the same. From that, my success has come from my quad, 4-, where I sit 2 seat. My club is very sculling oriented but I can also sweep very well. In a sweep boat, I usually sit 7 seat. Flexibility is one of my strong traits where I am able to be put in any position and try my hardest to succeed where I am placed.
Academically I strive to do my best, just like in rowing. Being in the AICE program, Allied Health, as well as being in the National Honor Society. In the Allied Health program, I work alongside athletes in my high school, gaining experience to possibly become an athletic trainer. As well as shadowing in the hospitals, gaining more experience in real-world careers. The AICE Cambridge program that my school offers, takes the highest classes to achieve college credit. Through this, I show my motivation and strive to obtain the highest education as well as my personal best in rowing. With this, I look forward to my future in college rowing and academics. Being a leader, having flexibility and motivation within myself would allow me to be a great addition to any team. Continuing to strive to be the best athlete and person I can be.
