I have always known that I have wanted to do a sport in college, I just didn't know what until I started rowing. I played softball for six years, but it always felt like something was missing. When COVID hit, my softball season halted and I missed having a team sport to look forward to. I had a friend who rowed and she convinced me to join our high school team. Within the first few months, I knew that I found my sport. Rowing was something that I looked forward to everyday, and honestly something that saved my mental health. I loved being with the team and always having something to work towards. It was a way for me to put my passion of fitness and nutrition into play and build relationships while I did. I fell in love with both the team camaraderie and the individual competition of the erg. I have always been a very competitive and driven person, and rowing is the perfect sport for me to constantly compete with myself and strive to be better. It also gives me relationships that I know I will cherish forever. Everyday I come home from practice thinking about ways I can improve myself and the team. I love how rowing gives you exactly what you put in; how you and your team preforms depends on your work and drive. And I only know that rowing in college will strengthen my passion and help me to learn so many important life skills.
I am a very coachable person and I use that attribute to my best ability, taking what people tell me to better myself and my rowing. I have always tried very hard in academics, being on the Principal's Honor Roll since elementary school. I hold myself to very high standards and always strive towards making myself better in any way I can. I love being with my team and try to bring a positive outlook to all those around me. I look forward for college to build many new relationships and push to become my best self.
