After trying out rowing one Friday after school, I knew that this would be the sport I continued throughout high school. After just a single Spring Season, I was moved up to the Varsity Women's Team and continue to compete as part of that team. I have slowly improved myself and worked to become a better rower on the water and the erg machine. During the Fall of 2019, I brought home a silver medal from Head of the Hooch in the Lightweight College and Club Lightweight 1x and a gold medal from Head of the South in the Junior Lightweight 1x. Coming from a small club, it's been difficult to have success in larger boat categories. I have a secured seat in our club's top 8+ and 4x, working hard to claim medals and put our team on the map. Rowing has taught me the value of team work along with the importance of self motivation. I have the same hardworking attitude on the water and in the classroom while also being open to constructive criticism from coaches and teammates. Rowing is something that has changed my life for the better and I hope to bring this positive influence to my college career.
