Personal Statement
My name is Carlotta Wegener, I am nearly 18 years old and I am currently finishing high school at the Poelchau School in Berlin, which is a special school dedicated to students doing high performance sports while studying. My sport and passion is rowing which I do on this competitive level since seven years and which I would love to continue at a college should I be given the opportunity.
I can not remember when I developed my wish of becoming a doctor, however, already at the age of four my greatest wish was a real stethoscope because I was obsessed with everything I related to medicine. Since entering school I reinforced my wish to become a physician, so I did all my work-placements at a hospital as well as I used all „job-days“ to gain more insides into the professional life of a doctor. Nevertheless, since I started rowing I also became obsessed with the sport. It appears to be a demand to row every day, concentrating on the flow of the boat, enjoying the moment.
Regarding to my academical aims, I realized that there is more to medicine than just treating diseases and helping the sick. Likely fostered through my experience as a competitive rower and the repeated medical exams and tests to support improvements of athletic performance, I developed profound interest also in this area of medicine. I am fascinated by the idea of combining my passion for sports with my professional aspiration.
