Personal Statement
Rowing is more than a sport to me; it's a discipline that embodies teamwork, resilience, and a pursuit of excellence. My experience on the water has taught me the importance of efficient communication and dedication. I have been rowing since age 13, and I have always found deep enjoyment and satisfaction in the sport, from the rhythmic strokes to the early mornings. Before I found rowing, I swam competitively for 8 years, competing in regional and state events. I also played 4 seasons of Water Polo over 3 years. I was in the A (division 1) team for 3 seasons and also competed in regional, state and national events.
I believe I have taken key lessons from all the sports I have competed in and carried these into my academic life. I am a dedicated student who achieves a high standard of grades consistently. I also am very passionate about charity and mission work. I have participated in Mercy Projects such as donation drives and baking and making sandwiches for the homeless. I have been chosen to participate in a Mission trip to Cambodia in September of 2024, and I hope to make a real difference in people's lives.
I have wanted to move away from home and attend a college or university in the United States for as long as I can remember. Hailing from Australia, I have seen all the great opportunities provided through going to colleges in the U.S, and I want to utilise rowing as best I can to achieve greatness in both my academic and sporting life.
I do regular gym and water sessions, and mental and nutrition performance training. I am dedicated to making myself a better athlete.
