Personal Statement
Hi,
My name is Christina Kamenev and I would love to be a part of a college rowing team. I graduate from Wesley School, Melbourne, Australia in November 2021; I am available to start a college in 2022.
I started rowing in late 2018 and have been eating (a lot) sleeping (a little), and breathing (sometimes harder than others) ever since. I truly adore the sound of the silence of the early morning sessions with only the sound of water dripping off the blade and the seat going up and down the slide.
During the school season, I rowed in my schools 1st VIII+ and 1st 4+ crew, of which I have been a member of for three seasons. In the off-season, I row with Melbourne University Rowing Club in the youth pathway program.
I am currently rowing for the Australian JW4+, which has brought with it many exciting challenges.
I would describe myself as someone who is determined to make the changes asked of them and one that perseveres through all challenges. I value teamwork and strive to be a leader, taking pride in my positions as Middle School Captain and current Senior House Captain.
My proudest achievements have been placing 1st in VIC state championships in the U19 and Schoolgirl coxed 4+, as well as 1st in the U20 cross-country relay.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Christina.
