Personal Statement
Rowing is a sport that I love. It is where I have made some of my closest friends and has also taught important lessons in life. Being able to row for a university that would further my abilities as an athlete would just be such an amazing experience and give me the chance to become an even better athlete would be the most amazing opportunity.
At school, I put my best effort forward always and for the past for three terms last year in Grade 10 I received diligence awards for my good work ethic in the classroom which I take a great deal of pride in. I am currently sitting with a 75% average in all my seven subjects and will be aiming to consistently increase those results. Furthermore, I am a part of the Public Relations Portfolio where we organize functions, fundraisers, and school-related events. I am also an executive member of the Student Unity Society which puts together a support system for students who are struggling at home, at school or have personal challenges. Lastly, I am also an executive member of the Matric Committee which oversees the activities of what the senior class of the school does that year, such as our matric hoodies and the matric dance afterparty.
As a prospective young athlete, I aim to push myself to be the best that I can possibly be, and I want to attend a school where I can enhance my abilities as an athlete and as a student who will contribute positively towards both the rowing team and the university itself. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I want to take every chance possible out there. I want to let my true colors fly and prove to myself and everyone around me that I am able to achieve these goals that I set out to reach.
