Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are to be as successful as a student-athlete as possible. I have a great team and a lot of our juniors on our school team call me “crew mom” as I always put the team first.
This summer I was excited to have my first summer season at St. Catharines Rowing Club, as you can see on my profile I‘ve only ever done school rowing and a fall rowing season due to family vacations as I wanted to be all-in for my first summer season. But unfortunately due to COVID-19 it’s not looking too promising now.
Currently I’m a coxswain due to a shoulder injury, however I’m expected to make a full recovery within the next year. I have great work ethic and I know how to prioritize what’s important to me.
I’m responsible in school, and in work as I’m a lifeguard. Being a lifeguard requires mental focus, physical strength, and knowing what to do and how to execute it - the same as rowing.
I used to play hockey and ringette before deciding to go all-in with rowing as I’m extremely passionate about it. I also used to dive recreationally so I understand complex instructions to receive the best results.
I've worked as a learn-to-row coach and I currently have my NCCP Level 1 in rowing to help me really understand my coach and how they’re trying to help me be successful throughout my rowing career.
*In regards to my video posted, almost all of those clips are from my first year of rowing in grade nine, as we didn’t do much video work grade 10, & I didn’t have a water season for grade 11. I’m avidly searching for an erg so I can update the video to show how my technique & power have improved since then.
