I am an amazing student with a 3.88 GPA and in all advanced or AP classes as well as a wonderful athlete making varsity my freshman year as well as becoming the captain of the team my junior year and receiving the award for Most Improved Athlete my second year as well and I plan on improving my technique in the boat, weight room, and on the erg along with breaking my records all round as well.
My favorite racing experience was my sophomore year States. My coach wanted my partner and I to row a double for the Women's Junior Double, but he only gave us one week to practice rowing together. We had two practices on our home boat club and packed our bags to leave. During heats, my partner's port oar popped out of her oarlock after about 500 meters, so she put it back and we had to catch u with the other teams, we passed a boat to be in 3rd and was walking onto 2nd. With 500 metes left of the race, my partner's shoes broke and we lost 2nd place but still finished in 3rd, allowing us to go to finals. We started our race, rowing together in a small boat for the fourth time, and took 4th place. That race may have not been a metal but it helped show me that I really could win races.
