I never would have thought when my dad signed me up for rowing in 9th grade that I would end up loving the sport. But all of a sudden, something that used to seem like a chore started to feel like a reward. I fell in love with the sport, the people, and everything that I was able to gain from being on the water everyday. I've had some of the best and the worst experiences in this sport, but everything that has happened has pushed me to become a better rower, a better teammate, and a better friend.
Throughout my years of rowing I have learned to push myself past my limits, to always cheer on your teammates, and to build grit and strength. Some days aren't going to be your best, but the worst days bring through your greatest achievements, and set you up to be able to do better the next. Ive learned that you need to take everything stroke by stroke, and to not focus on one big thing, but the little things.
It is a dream of mine to row in college, because I dont know what I would do without the sport of rowing, or how my life would turn out if I wasn't able to go to the boathouse everyday, and be able to show the best version of myself out on the water.
