I started rowing in 2021 and from the moment I finished my first practice I knew that this was the sport meant for me. I have an interest in being recruited as a coxswain at the collegiate level. I started out as a rower which helps me understand my teammates mindsets and makes me a better coxswain. I always ask the upper-class men and other coxswains for tips on how to improve. I have had a 95 GPA for the last 3 years. I have taken all honors classes since 8th grade. And I am in girl scouts and play the cello. I am now a volunteer firefighter as well. I have a few preferred fields of studies that I’m interested in but I have not narrowed it down yet. My love for this sport is stronger than it’s been for anything else. My coaches have told me that even though I don’t talk a lot, they can see my motivation to improve and my dedication to the sport. I think what really shows my dedication is I started on one rowing team for 2 years and endured bullying the whole time because this is the sport I love. And some people in my position would give up and quit but I was determined to stay with rowing, so I joined another rowing team. I now can enjoy the sport I love with an amazing team. Hopefully I can continue with my passion, and cox in college.
