Olivia Morin '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Olivia Morin. I am 17 years old and I row on the Friends of Port rowing team in Port Washington, New York. Although I only joined this past November 2021, I have always been drawn to competitive sports. Most recently I was member of the Girls Varsity Soccer team at my high school, South Side High School, in Rockville Centre, NY. We advanced to the New State Class A Championships and we finished the season second in the state.  

Since joining rowing this past fall, I have fallen in love with this sport and I know that I want to continue to row throughout my college experience. I love working with my teammates to be the best we can be.  This sport has helped push myself to new limits and I love the feeling of racing. I have currently raced my first three races in the 2V8 and 2V4 boat.  Most recently we placed 2nd in the New York State Championship final, qualifying us for US Youth Nationals.  In Sarasota, our 2V8+ boat placed 1st in the C Finals (13th overall). 

For the summer training season, we have been focusing on small boat training. My team will be competing at the Philadelphia Youth Regatta on July 23rd and the Overpeck Sprints on July 30th.  

I am very excited because I recently achieved another PR for my 2K, dropping over 8 seconds with a time of 7:29.5. My goal is to break 7:20 before the end of the summer season.  I know this is an aggressive goal but as a novice, I have been able to see large drops in time.
