When I think of attending college, I think of myself as taking that next step in transitioning to adulthood. I plan on doing that by majoring in engineering and continuing my rowing career. Rowing has taught discipline, leadership, time management and pushing myself beyond limits. Discipline is so important in rowing and school. Being able to take criticism from coaches and teachers, even when you don't agree on what are telling, you at times. My team requires me to be a leader, so novices can lookup to me and learn by my example. Time management is the key to all of this, being able to balance many hours a week of practice with homework and family time. Most of all I have learned to push myself beyond all my goals, that I could have ever imagined in rowing and school. Although, I love rowing, traveling, skiing and playing softball are other things I enjoy. I feel those activities balance out my school work and rowing.
