My name is Scarlett Henry. I am a junior at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, just outside of Philadelphia. After playing basketball, lacrosse, and running track for many years, I decided to also join crew. The athletics department at my high school believed that my speed, height and competitiveness would translate well into rowing. I now love rowing and working hard with my teammates to achieve a common goal!
As a novice, I completed my first 2k on 11/03/22 and two more since, setting PRs each time. Despite being new to the sport and continuing to play basketball, I progressed quickly and was slotted into the 1V8 in the final two regattas of the fall season my first year. This past spring, I raced with our 1V4. I am extremely proud of the progress that we made. We competed in 5 Manny flicks, came in 5th in the City Championship, and advanced to day 2 of the Stotesbury Cup.
I now train with a former coach/ trainer of the US Women’s National Rowing team, in an effort to get stronger and prevent injuries. This fall our school team competed at the HOCR. I was recently elected Captain of the Varsity team and am looking forward to the added responsibility of ultimately helping us win more this Spring!
