As someone who comes from a competitive dancer background, I have had to learn the important lesson of flexibility; not only in my body, but as well my mindset. I use flexibility while rowing by being able to quickly adapt in a boat, whether its a new lineup, or I am trying to make the boat I am in the fastest it can go, I use my mindset of flexibility to improve in any situation I am in. I am also flexible while doing a really hard piece, rather then thinking about the negative part, looking into the future and seeing the accomplishment I will feel after I complete the piece. I want to row at a collegiate level to not only diversify my rowing experience, but to move any boat I am put into because I want to better my rowing. I will bring a lot of perspective to a team, being a person of color I have had to work even harder to be heard, so I will make sure everyone is heard on the team I am on. I as well would like to further my knowledge about rowing!
