This year is my fourth year rowing for Vashon Island Rowing Club. This fall I went to Boston to race at the Head of the Charles for the second time in the women's varsity 8+. Although we didn't exactly finish 9th like we did the year before we still finished 30th out of 85 entries. My big goal this year is to make it to Nationals in Princeton, New Jersey. At the moment the boats I'm looking to qualify for Nationals this year is the Women's Varsity 4x, and Women's Varsity 2x. We ended the fall season with a 2k on which I got a PR with a 7:34, I hope to break 7:30 by the end of this year. Throughout the winter I will be training 4 days a week, and on the days I'm not rowing you'll find me running or doing weights.
I love rowing. I wouldn't do rowing if I didn't love it and that's why I want to row in college. It gives me a purpose, and it gives me an outlet for all my energy. I wouldn't say I love the pain that you feel while pushing yourself to the limits, but the feeling afterwards is what I live for. It gives me a sense of accomplishment knowing that I pushed myself to my breaking point.
