Hello, my name is Kaitlyn and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself:
I was first introduced to the game of soccer at the age of 4. After developing a liking to running around and playing with a ball, it quickly became my best friend. I constantly had a ball at my feet, kicking it against the garage wall or the couch while driving my mom crazy. At the age of 6 and 7, many coaches were very excited to have me on their community teams as I had a lot of energy, unique development of composure on the ball and I scored a lot of goals while running all over the field. Of course, at that age, we hadn't yet learned field positions. As I progressed into the higher levels I played on the club teams. Here is where I learned the positions and I continued to be one of the most active players while leading in goals and assists. I consistently play with a lot of energy and during this period my passion for the game continued to grow. While playing for my club team, I was voted by my teammates to be captain for 3 years in a row. At age 11, I was recognized by ASA (Alberta Soccer Association aka Team Alberta) where we practiced, trained and played with similar level athletes. For both of my 2 years with Team Alberta, I was selected to attend the combine in Burnaby, British Columbia. After ASA, I was selected to be on REX Alberta North where I have been for the past 3 years. I continue to train and grow while in the company of the highest level soccer players in Alberta. The highlight of my soccer career is when I was invited to attend the Canadian National ID camp in Montreal, Quebec. I continue to grow and develop both in skill and in my passion for the game.
My goal is to play soccer at the highest level possible where I can play the game I love while obtaining a quality education consistent with my interests.
Some of my major soccer-related achievements:
- invited to a Canadian National ID camp in February 2019
- scouted to be part of the Regional Excel Program (REX) for 3 years in a row 2017-2020
- I was selected to go to a Vancouver Whitecaps showcase combine 2 years in a row, 2018 and 2019.
- voted as captain for my club team, Sherwood Park Pheonix, for 3 years
- My Sherwood Park Phoenix club team placed first in the league 4 years in a row. We also placed first in other major tournaments such as the Surrey Mayors Cup held in Surrey, BC; SISCO held in Saskatoon, SK and we placed 2nd in Provincials in 2017.
