My name is Emiko Matsumoto, but my nickname on the field is Koko. It is my goal to pursue Kinesiology and become a Physical Therapist to support and care for people and athletes alike. Anatomy intrigues me, more specifically how the human body can heal itself in relation to how the structure of the body has evolved. Along with my schooling, soccer is deeply rooted within me. I have been playing soccer for ten years: six years at AZSC recreational soccer, three years at Arizona Soccer Club-Thunder, and four years on the Arizona College Prep-Erie Women’s Varsity team, where I am the captain of the team and currently play as an attacking midfielder. As a player, I am constantly aware of the positions the field and anticipate the next play. I value communication on and off the field, a team that works like family, and a supportive and motivating coach. Any great team needs consistency in effort, punctuality, and cooperation among players. I hold myself to those high standards and values when I step on the field. I look forward to being part of another great team as I take the next step toward becoming a Physical Therapist.
