I’ve grown a lot since I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old. However, not as much as I have grown the past 2 years (I am now a junior in high school). Learning to manage my time, keeping my grades above average and improving my soccer skills, proved to be a challenge, but it was a challenge that I succeeded with. And I totally look forward in cultivating my soccer talents with continued off season training and conditioning. My goals for next season is to become a better student by focusing my efforts in achieving above the standard in my honors classes, as well a being a leader needed on my team. As a Junior, this will be my 3rd year on the school varsity team and getting to know each team member has been uplifting to me. Also, having close relationships with the seniors on the team has really taught me that there is no "I' in the word "TEAM". My play has really been focused on our team and the team strategies in our wins. Although I did suffer through a mild concussion, the two weeks not being able to actually practice or play really taught me how important soccer in my life is. The individuals on the team, the coaches and the intense practices have placed me on the path that I love and want to remain. During my time off of school soccer, I was able to maintain my soccer skills by continuing to play (team play) and also I have been able to be personally coached by a private soccer coach, who has played professionally on an international team. As the primary defender and last line of defense at the goal, my strategy is to continue to learn and grow into becoming a force that anyone attempting to score on my teams goal, will defiantly have to go through me first...and that will prove difficult for the other team.
