Although growing up as a multi-sport athlete, soccer has always been my passion. I began my competitive soccer career at age 7 playing for a local club. I have excelled at playing both defender and goalkeeper, but I consider myself a team first player. Four seasons ago, my club team needed a goalkeeper. The coach asked me to fill in because he liked my height and aggressiveness. I immediately loved the position. I continued to develop my skills training and playing as a keeper for the club team.
As a Freshman and Sophomore starter on my high school team, I transitioned back to a defender role while also helping the team as a goalkeeper when needed. I was able to move to full time goalkeeper as a Junior and received Academic All-Conference recognition. One of my favorite accomplishments in my soccer career is helping my high school team win back-to-back state playoff games for the first time in several years.
I understand that playing soccer at the collegiate level is a goal that requires a strong commitment to both athletic and academic excellence. This commitment is evidenced not only by my efforts on the field, but in the classroom as well. Through the end of my freshman year, I had a 4.0 GPA while taking honors courses as well as being active in my community through the school East program. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss with coaches what will make me an asset to a university both on and off the soccer field.
