Hello, thank you for viewing my profile! My name is Kayla Davis and I am a senior, class of 2021, carrying a 4.12 (weighted) GPA at Viewpoint School. I have been playing goalkeeper since fourth grade and I am the starting goalkeeper on both my high school varsity soccer team and LA Galaxy CVU club team. Over the past four years on my high school and club team, I have embraced my leadership position through being extremely vocal on the field so I can support and direct my teammates. In addition to my vocality on the field, I strongly consider myself as an avid listener. Another way I express my leadership in goal is through my keen ability to save close range shots. As I save shots from a close distance with little time to think and react, I am able to persevere myself and teammates through the pressure. This level of leadership allowed me to earn the Gold Coast 2nd Team All League award in 2020 while on my high school’s varsity soccer team.
Despite the abrupt end of my soccer season due to the Coronavirus pandemic, my determination to maintain fitness and improve my skills has led me into new athletic ventures and methods of training. In addition to keeping up with one-on one practices with my goalie coach, Ian Feur, I have been pushing myself to do 50 mile bike-rides, run, and swim. This has revealed my strong sense of resilience and determination to improve as an athlete and true love for soccer. My determination to improve myself, has led me to want to attend a college that will challenge me athletically and academically. Furthermore, I strive to find a college that also has a strong sense of culture and community on the soccer field.
As I currently balance four AP courses, soccer, participating in over 300 hours of community service, and other forms of athleticism, I have profoundly developed my ability to balance school with athletics. Since I have already established a strong foundation of management, when I join your soccer team, I will be ready to transition into college and completely immerse myself into the culture and coaching of the team. Thank you for reading my personal insight and I hope to see you soon on the soccer field!
Best Wishes,
Kayla Davis, Goalkeeper, Class of 2021
